Reading Country Weekend in the Central Highlands

July 15, 2023 @ 10:00 am - July 16, 2023 @ 3:00 pm

Spend a weekend learning biik in the Central Highlands – limited spots on Saturday 15th – Sunday 16th July

Over two days, led by the Biocultural Diversity team, we’ll walk, yarn, gather species, hear from TLAWC teams, and get to know Forest Country. Plenty of activities suitable for younger audiences too.

We are starting a conversation about and with Forest Country in the Central Highlands. The Central Highlands includes forest country places ranging the debera (bogong moth) sites at Torbreck down to the Acheron River. It holds culturally important places such as Cathedral Range and Nyagaroon. Food, fibre, medicine and non human animals are diverse and abundant.

During the workshop we will:

  • Learn about Forest Country
  • Share yarns about what’s important in understanding Central Highlands and how we assert our rights and interests
  • Undertake and refine a Biocultural Diversity Assessment of the Central Highlands
  • Refine Taungurung-led ways of Reading Country

Accommodation and catering provided.
